Imagined Realities

New Residency in partnership with the RCA

As innovators in the digital technology and art space, FRAMELESS believes in supporting emerging talent. For our newest ‘Blank Canvas’ artist residency we have proudly partnered with talented alumni from the Royal College of Art (RCA) to present ‘Imagined Realities’.

The captivating three-part audio-visual journey explores and celebrates the space between dreams and reality, in a show that traverses ancient worlds and futuristic landscapes.

Take a look below for more details on the artists and their work.

About the artists

Our continued collaboration with the Royal College of Art, offers a platform for emerging digital artists. The show ‘Imagined Realities’ is brought to you by 4 artists from the Digital Direction MA course at the RCA – Riya Mahajan, Ruby Bell, Vivian Li, and Janmejay Singh (supported by Dhira Chakraborty).

Tom Simmons, Head of Programme, MA Digital Direction at RCA, said, “It’s incredible to see the work of our alumni reaching such broad audiences. Their ability to tell important stories through digital art exemplifies the power of creativity in understanding the world around us.”

Moody Monsters

Riya Mahajan & Ruby Bell

Ruby and Riya are digital artists and designers who share a love of working with emerging digital technologies, platforming new voices and creating engaging experiences through immersive storytelling.

They co-directed ‘Moody Monsters’ as part of their MA Digital Direction research at the Royal College of Art. The project involved running a co-creation workshop for 12–14 year-olds to make 3D-scanned characters based on different emotions. ‘Moody Monsters’ takes you on a journey to meet these characters in a surreal landscape, encouraging you to see the world through the mind of a child. Music composition & sound design by Lian Dyogi.

From The Ground / Lost in Synthetic

Vivian Li

Qinqing (Vivian) Li is a visual artist and creative designer who focuses on fungi as a central motif in her work. By employing metaphor and polyphonic storytelling, she emphasises overlooked aspects of life while exploring the intersections of ecology, culture, and capitalism.

In her recent ‘From the Ground’ series, fungi are used as a metaphor to challenge conventional perceptions of progress and coexistence. The works invite audiences to explore alternative forms of existence beyond capitalist frameworks and uncover the hidden potential of symbiotic living through immersive experiences. Through critical reflection on materials and their broader ecosystems, Vivian’s interdisciplinary approach reveals the latent possibilities of symbiotic relationships within urban environments and encourages a re-evaluation of our connection to the natural world. She is also the Standout Winner in the Digital Edge Awards by Adobe.
