ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Frameless.

We are always striving to provide the best support for visitors who require assistance. Please don’t hesitate to speak to a member of our team if you require any help or have any questions during your visit.

Whilst there is no strobe lighting in any of the galleries, the experience does contain moving images and changes in light that may affect some people (including flashes of lightning in ‘The World Around us’). There will be music playing in each of the four galleries. The music in each is a different style and can peak at above 85 decibels (ear defenders are available for young children and those that may be affected; please ask a member of our staff for assistance).

You can find more information about our dedicated SEND sessions here and our BSL tours here or for our Audio Described tours here. You can also find information about our Relaxed school events here.

Please contact [email protected] if you require any further support.

Our FAQ page answers some of the most commonly asked questions. In addition, there are QR codes outside each of the galleries to enhance your experience. They can also be accessed here.

QUICK ACCESS GUIDES

You will find both an easy read and visual guide below which details everything you need to know about your visit.

CHILLED EXPERIENCES

As an accessible, multisensory, immersive art experience, Frameless is committed to ensuring that all visitors can access and enjoy the experience. Our dedicated Chilled Experiences are open to all, but have been created especially for deaf, disabled and neurodivergent people, and those who might feel more at ease in less busy public spaces.

We aim to create an atmosphere where everyone feels safe to enjoy the experience as they wish. We reduce our capacity, which means more room for wheelchairs and more space for comfort. Visitors are welcome to move around the experience as they please, and make noise as they wish, throughout.

Certain elements of the experience are also adapted to suit various needs, for example, loud noises are minimised, and low-level lighting is included to avoid complete darkness.  We switch off the hand driers and build a large chill out space, with sensory lighting and a dark tent. We also provide fidget toys, easy read and visual guides and our friendly access team will be there to welcome and support you. All families are welcome, and we encourage everybody to come along and enjoy the experience in their own way.

Dates for Chilled Experiences are available below:

  • Tuesday 2nd April (Easter Break) from 9.30am to 11.30am
  • Tuesday 28th of May from 10.00am to 12.00pm
  • Monday 12th of August from 10.00am to 12.00pm

Tickets must be booked in advance and SEND visitors are eligible for a complimentary, accompanying carer’s ticket, which must be booked at the same time.

If you require any further support or assistance, please email [email protected].

Audio Described and British Sign Language tours are also available during our Chilled Experiences sessions.

DEAF/HARD OF HEARING

We are delighted to offer the SignLive interpretation service and our team based at the entrance have tablets to aid communication. You will find a BSL video guide below which details everything you need to know about your visit.

As an accessible, multisensory, immersive art experience, Frameless offers British Sign Language tours that are suitable for visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing. At certain times we offer enhanced support, with a dedicated British Sign Language guide to lead groups through Frameless. Our guide conveys the mood and tone of the music in the galleries. You can choose from sessions that take place during general admissions, or during our more relaxed session, Chilled Experiences, where we have reduced public capacity.

Frameless use Sign Live tablets and staff are equipped with scribble pads, Makaton cards and other access resources to support with communication.

Tour tickets must be booked in advance and participants are eligible for a complimentary, accompanying carer’s ticket, which must be booked at the same time. Our dedicated access team will also be on hand to support and guide visitors through the galleries, if required.

Dates for BSL experiences are available below:

Tuesday 21st of May from 1.30pm to 3.30pm

If you can’t make one of these dates, please email [email protected] and we will do our best to arrange an alternative time.

VISUALLY IMPAIRED/AUDIO DESCRIBED

You will find an audio guide below which details everything you need to know about your visit.

As an accessible, multisensory, immersive art experience, Frameless offers audio described tours that are tailored specifically for visitors who are blind or visually impaired. During these tours we provide enhanced support with headsets linked to a dedicated guide who leads groups through the galleries at Frameless describing the visual content alongside the music.

You can choose from sessions that occur during general admission periods, or as part of our more relaxed Chilled Sessions. During Chilled sessions we have reduced public capacity and the audio described tours can be tailored to support visitors who have special educational needs, or those who might benefit from more of a storytelling experience.

Tour tickets must be booked in advance and participants are eligible for a complimentary, accompanying carer’s ticket, which must be booked at the same time. Our dedicated access team will also be on hand to support and guide visitors through the galleries, if required.
