Join art historian Claudia Merkle as she delves into the world of Surrealism to discover the hidden meanings behind some of the most famous Surrealist paintings by Salvador Dalí and Max Ernst among others.
Surrealism was a cultural movement that developed in the aftermath of the First World War. Influenced by Sigmund Freud’s Interpretations of Dreams and Dadaism, Surrealists sought to represent an alternative reality, one that is only accessible through our unconscious and subconscious minds. Their works are weird, dreamlike, otherworldly, and sometimes challenging, but also beautiful, fascinating, and inspiring. Tickets include your Art Talks lecture, followed by general access to the main Frameless galleries to enjoy at your own pace.
This is a one time event with limited tickets so book in advance to secure your place.
